NEW ULM — The Martin Luther College women’s soccer team suffered a frustrating 2-1 defeat to Northland College on Saturday.
Northland (18-9) took an early 1-0 lead off a goal on a free kick in the 16th minute, and then added to it in the 61st minute when the Knights committed an own goal to push the LumberJills’ lead to 2-0.
The Knights broke through in the closing seconds with a goal by Morgan Spoehr (her third of the season), but with only two seconds left on the clock the Knights could not come back any further.
MLC dropped to 3-10-1 overall and 2-7-1 in UMAC play.
The Knights return to action on Friday when they host Minnesota Morris.
