MORGAN -- Cedar Mountain blanked Red Rock Central in a 9-man South District football game.
Cooper Freitag had three touchdown passes, two of them to Caden Kleinschmidt (69, 23 yards). Nick Freitag also had an 8-yard touchdown reception.
Cooper Freitag was 9-of-12 passing for 144 yards and three touchdowns and Matt Zeug had 74 yards rushing. Kleinschmidt finished with six receptions for 120 yards receiving.
Cedar Mountain is at Renville County West on Thursday.
Mabel-Canton 45, Madelia 8
MADELIA -- Mabel-Canton crushed Madelia in 9-man South District football action on Friday.
Carter Florez scored a 77-yard touchdown for Madelia in the third quarter for the team's only score. Madelia is at Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman on Friday.
College cross-country
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- The Martin Luther College women's cross country team returned to action with a strong performance at the Blugold Invitational hosted by UW-Eau Claire on Friday.
MLC finished in 21st place out of 27 teams with a total team score of 555 points.
Abigail Buege set the pace for MLC with a time of 24:46.87. That put her in 85th place out of the 355 runners.
Hannah Kratz (25:39.68), Claire Tomhave (26:00.19) and Leah Nushart (26:15.59) each finished in the top 200.
The MLC men finished 21st out of the 27 teams with 674 points. Ryan Maertz was the top MLC runner (27:19.95). That was good for 102nd place out of 412 runners.
Joining Maertz in the MLC line-up were Luke Wegner (29:02.49), Joshua Zander (29:19.54), Micah Schibbelhut (29:57.25) and Josiah Loersch (30:25.89).
College golf
The MLC men's golf team finished sixth at Friday's Vikings Cup event hosted by Bethany Lutheran College at Crow River Golf Club.
MLC finished the day with a total team score of 351 strokes. Bethany Lutheran won the team competition with a score of 313.
Kyle Lindemann shot a 77, tying him for fourth place in the final standings.
The MLC women's golf team finished fifth at the same event.
The Knights shot 478 as a team at the event. Northwestern-St. Paul won the tournament with a team score of 356 strokes. Lexi Fischer was the low-scorer for MLC on the day with a round of 100, tying her for 14th place overall.
Melina Satorius (113), AnaCristina Iglesias (127) and Julia Hallman (138) filled out the rest of the MLC line-up.
