Oestreich Named UMAC Player of the Week

NEW ULM — Martin Luther College sophomore running back Carson Oestreich was named Upper Midwest Athletic College Football Offensive Player of the Week by the conference on Monday.

Oestreich finished Saturday’s 42-28 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College with a career-high 187 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries, helping the Knights rush for 363 yards as a team.

Oestreich scored both of his touchdowns in the second quarter of the win, helping the Knights take control of the game with a 55-yard sprint to start the quarter, and then scoring from seven yards out with 1:39 to play in the first half.

This season, Oestreich leads the UMAC and ranks sixth in all of NCAA Division III with 317 rushing yards. His efforts on the ground this season have helped the Knights lead the conference and rank fifth in the nation with an average of 345.0 rushing yards per game.
