New Ulm gets past Marshall

NEW ULM — New Ulm got a pair of goals in the first half and used that momentum to pick up its first win of the season, defeating Marshall 5-0 in Big South Conference girls’ soccer action at New Ulm High School.

Livia Reinarts and Madison Miller each scored two goals to lead the Eagles offensively. Annika Morschauser scored a late goal for New Ulm and Ariana Dreyer and Elizabeth Dake shared the goalkeeping duties.

The Eagles dominated possession and they had some good looks early on, but they were unable to capitalize on those chances. Reinarts got the Eagles on the board with 7:29 left in the first half after she scored to make it 1-0. New Ulm had a couple of chances after that, but it scored again with 30 seconds left in the half when Reinarts scored her second goal of the game.

With a 2-0 lead in the second half, Miller added to it when she scored a pair of goals in the second half to make it 4-0. Morschauser added a late goal for the final 5-0 margin.

New Ulm looks for its second win of the season on Thursday when it hosts Worthington at 6:30 p.m. at New Ulm High School.
