NEW ULM -- While Lamberton's Nick Altermatt was busy missing bats on the mound, Hanska just made enough contact to survive in the Region 2C amateur baseball playoffs.
Altermatt struck out 15, but Hanska scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning and escaped with a 2-1 win at Johnson Park.
Matt Suess delivered the game-winning RBI when his single scored Gabe Knowles to give Hanska the 2-1 lead. Aaron Portner pitched the final three innings for the save and Branson Peterson went six innings, allowed four hits and struck out three for the win.
Hanska will now move on to play at 11 a.m. on Saturday in New Ulm in another elimination bracket game.
Down 1-0 in the seventh, Chris Knowles led off the seventh inning inning with a double. His brother Gabe then doubled and that scored Chris to tie the game at 1-1.
Altermatt retired Brady Mosenden on a grounder, allowing Gabe Knowles to move to third. There, Suess drove in the game-winning run.
Lamberton scored its lone run in the bottom of the second. Josh Altermatt singled and Blake Altermatt doubled. Will Carlson's sacrifice fly to center gave the Longsox a 1-0 lead and it looked like it could be enough for Altermatt, who was cruising along.
Altermatt gave up five hits in the losing effort.
