• The Sibley East wrestling duo of Drayden Morton and Derek Steele each took home a Class A state championship this past Saturday at the 2020 Individual Wrestling State Tournament, with Morton taking first at 120 pounds and Steele taking first at 113 pounds.

• Morton first picked a 5-2 decision over Davis Sunken of Blue Earth Area before defeating Browerville’s Justin Crandall by a 10-1 major decision on Friday. Morton started his Saturday off by beating Kelvin Andrade-Ponce of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in the championship semifinals by a 2-1 decision. He then won the state title with a 3-0 decision over Caledonia-Houston sophomore Brandon Ross.

• Steele first defeated Ethan Bowman by a 13-0 major decision and ended Friday by beating Ryan Jensen of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in a championship quarterfinal match by a 4-1 decision. Steele then got past Coy Gunderson of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in the championship semifinals by a 4-3 decision before winning the state title with a 4-2 decision over Ethan Hendrickson from United North Central.
