Fischer win girls’ C-C meet

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s-Sleepy Eye-New Ulm Cathedral’s Clare Fischer took first overall on the girls’ side of the cross-country meet at Sleepy Eye Golf Course on Thursday.

Fischer won the event in 19:51, ahead of Wabasso’s Chloe Haven (20:07). Minnesota Valley Lutheran’s Abby Nelson was third overall in 20:24, Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet’s Grace Moeller was fourth overall n 20:37 and Mankato Loyola/Cleveland’s Ellie Nygren was fifth in 20:59.

Sibley East won the meet on the girls’ side with 51 points, followed by LCWM/Nicollet (65), Norwood-Young America (77), Loyola/Cleveland (82), Wabasso (95), SM-SE-NUC (110) and MVL (inc.).

Sibley East’s Kaitlyn Scherer (sixth, 21:50) and Audrey Parrott (seventh, 22:16) were next, followed by NYA’s Laney Meyer (eighth, 22:18), EllaMae Neaton (ninth, 22:18) and MVL’s Naomi Anderson (10th, 22:19).

On the boys’ side, Loyola/Cleveland won with a team score of 27, followed by Sibley East (48), NYA (57), SM-SE-NUC (114), LCWM/Nicollet (138), MVL (143) and Wabasso (175).

Loyola dominated the boys’ side, taking the top three spots. Mitchell Johnstone took first in 16:08, followed by Jerrett Peterson (16:50) and Tyler Erickson (16:53). Sibley East’s Travis Andrews was fourth (17:03), followed by NYA’s Tyler Smith (17:38), Sibley East’s Jose Nevarez (17:42), NYA’s Jake Druley (17:46), SM-SE-NUC’s Joshua Hagen (18:03), Loyola/Cleveland’s Brett Omtvedt (18:12) and Sibley East’s Davis Wibstad (18:12).
