Women’s soccer
Crown 2, MLC 1
ST. BONIFACIUS — The Martin Luther College women’s soccer team lost its nonconference game at Crown College 2-1 on Wednesday night.
The two teams played in the cold and rain throughout the night, but MLC (4-5) took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Lydia Bitter in the eighth minute.
That lead would be short lived, however, as the Storm scored in the 29th minute to send the game to halftime 1-1.
MLC pressed in the second half, but Crown scored the lone goal after the break in the 55th minute on the way to the win.
Bitter’s goal was her team-leading fifth of the season. The Knights outshot the Storm 25-13 overall and 7-5 in shots on goal.
MLC keeper Mollie Fischer stopped three of the five shots she faced in goal.
