Milbrath drafted by Cleveland Indians
SPRINGFIELD – Springfield native and Augustana sophomore Jordan Milbrath was selected by the Cleveland Indians with the 1,041st pick of the 35th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Saturday.
Milbrath, a right-handed pitcher from Springfield, posted a 7-2 record in 2013 for the Vikings, making a team-high 12 starts. The sophomore posted a 4.57 ERA in 67.0 innings while striking out a team-high 60 batters. Milbrath tossed two complete games and held opponents to a .285 batting average. He is currently playing for the Rochester Honkers of the Northwoods Leagues.
Milbrath struck out a season-high nine batters in 6.1 innings against Southwest Minnesota State on March 29 and struck out seven batters in a game on three occasions during the season.
Augustana College is located in Sioux Falls and is a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
