Chadderdon is the right choice for sheriff

To the editor: My name is Tom Rother and I’m a 17-year law enforcement veteran, with the past nine years being a detective with an area law enforcement agency. I’m writing this letter in support of Marc Chadderdon for Nicollet County Sheriff. Marc’s leadership and community commitment are second to none and he would do great things for the citizens for Nicollet County. I’m going to highlight two areas in which I’ve directly seen Marc’s leadership in action. Marc was one of the founding investigators of the Minnesota South Central Investigators Coalition (MSCIC). This ...

Walz is obvious choice for governor

To the editor: Gov. Tim Walz led the effort to address COVID 19 while trying to get our economy back on track. I approve of his mask mandates and shutdowns. Dr. Scott Jensen said of COVID: “This is like a cold, runny nose, low grade fever, sore throat.” He recommended NOT getting the COVID vaccine and advised the use of ivermectin. COVID is not a parasitic illness. I am not a horse. Walz worked on insulin relief for diabetics. Dr. Jensen voted against that bill when in state office. On gun violence and public safety, Walz signed bills to aid in gun control. Jensen said he ...

Election choices

To the editor: We have an important election coming up soon. If you want to change the ”downfall” of our great nation, wake up to the realization of the evils that have been increasing in our country since the legalization of abortion. We have great pain and sadness (and anger) when we hear of and see the mass killings, especially those involving the children in school shootings and otherwise. These murderers are prosecuted and sentenced to life in prison or death. If “out of sight, out of mind” is your mantra, please educate yourself, and “wake up” your mind to the ...

Local businesses depend on good schools

To the editor: Strong schools mean everything to this region. I am the director of Nursing at Oak Hills Living Center, where 126 community members who can no longer care for themselves call home. We need educated individuals with diverse experiences to join our team and care for our amazing residents, and the school systems in this community have been great partners. When our schools are strong, we create young people who aspire to serve others, solve challenging problems, and explore a career where they thrive. As a New Ulm Public School alumnus, I started my health care career at ...

Answers to levy referendum question gave insight

To the editor: I had the opportunity to attend the New Ulm School Board candidate forum. This forum included six school board candidates. As expected each candidate communicated their desire to serve on the District 88 school board. The candidates presented their qualifications, experience and strengths. Two related questions gave me special insight into the candidates. Candidates were asked what services provided by District 88 should be cut if there are budge deficits in the next few years. All six candidates gave similar answers. None articulated any programs or services that they ...

All Democrats who hold office should be replaced

To the editor: We need a change in Minnesota. Not our underwear — our leadership. It doesn’t pass the smell test. We have to start at the top with all the Democrats: Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, Attorney General Keith Ellison and U.S. Sens. Klobuchar and Tina Smith, but they both aren’t up for re-election in 2022. We also have many Democratic mayors who should be replaced. A couple reasons why Walz should be replaced is his handling of the riot in 2020, where he left the rioters burn down the police precinct in Minneapolis, burn down whole streets and many ...
