Embrace the military veteran in your life

To the editor: As is the custom of many military veterans, earlier this week on Veterans Day I went to Applebee’s for my free meal. And last week many of us attended the always moving MVL Veterans Recognition program which is also a must-do. Thank you to every organization that offered some type of gift to Veterans. Make border crossers collect their garbage

To the editor: All the photos of people illegally coming across the Rio Grande River and getting in lines to pass into the USA show filthy streams of discarded garbage along their pathway. There are very few places here in the USA where you see that filth, except in the tent encampments. Before the border crossers are checked through the gates they should all be given a sack to collect the garbage and not be allowed to enter without throwing a full bag of garbage into a depository at the gate. To the editor: I have a U.S. citizen that opened “Great New York Pizza” in downtown Nicollet in 2018. He originally immigrated from Eritrea, Africa to Minnesota and living near family in Apple Valley for 17 years, he selected Nicollet to open his business. After spending nearly six years of trying to legally bring his young family here, his sister contacted my office looking for help for him last spring. To the editor: The idea for my last letter before the election came to me as I was attending Mass this Sunday, and might answer some of Randy Kryzmarzick’s questions. The Gospel reading spoke of Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, crying out to Jesus while he was traveling with crowds on the road near Jericho. Vote yes on Constitutional Amendment one

To the editor: On Nov. 5, please vote yes on Constitutional Amendment Number One. This amendment would extend the present allocation of a portion of state gambling proceeds to clean water and environmental efforts throughout the state. This is not a new tax or fee, but simply a continuation of a measure originally passed about 30 years ago that allocates a percentage of gambling revenue to the environment.
