Monthly Dental Clinics continue at Brown County Public Health

Brown County Public Health continues to provide space for dental services for people of all ages, from infants to adults, through Children’s Dental Services (CDS), thanks to a generous reinvestment grant from South Country Health Alliance. A dental team from CDS visits Brown County once a month to provide dental cleanings, exams, and cavity assessments. If additional dental work is needed, a follow-up appointment is scheduled. CDS accepts most insurance plans, including Medical Assistance, as well as private pay. Discounted fees are also available for individuals who qualify based on income.

CDS has been providing dental care in Brown County since 2025 and will continue offering monthly clinics throughout the remainder of 2026. While Brown County is fortunate to have several local dental providers, the cost of dental care can still be a barrier for some residents, especially those without dental insurance or with limited incomes. The partnership between Brown County Public Health and CDS helps connect community members with affordable, quality dental care close to home.

Good oral health is more than having a healthy smile. Healthy teeth and gums make it easier to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. Without regular dental care, tooth decay and gum disease can cause pain, infection, and difficulty with everyday activities. The American Dental Association recommends visiting a dentist regularly for cleanings and preventive care. Routine dental visits also provide an opportunity to detect problems early, including cavities and signs of oral cancer.

Oral health is closely connected to overall health. Heart disease, diabetes and respiratory diseases can worsen from bacteria from teeth and gums, emphasizing the importance of routine care. Maintaining healthy teeth and gums is an important part of supporting your overall well-being.

Taking care of your mouth doesn’t stop at the dental office. Brushing your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily, limiting sugary foods and drinks, and avoiding tobacco products can all help keep your mouth healthy between dental visits.
