Time for “I told you so” drawing near

To the editor:

It’s too bad that our justice system couldn’t mete out judgments and punishments for our current president, the convicted felon, as swiftly as he’s tried to fast-track deportations and imprisonment for innocent U.S. citizens.

As we near the completion of the administration’s ineptly inconsequential yet devastatingly incompetent and disastrous first 100 days with the inmates running the asylum, the loyalists are being exposed for their glaring inadequacies.

For example, Pete Hegseth tries to run the Department of Defense with his wife (Is she his sponsor?) trying to keep tabs on her husband and his illness, the incorrigible Mr. Hegseth doesn’t seem able to abide by the simple nuances of the high pressure demands of such a sensitive job. Maybe his mother’s scathing indictment of Pete was more accurate than Republicans in the Senate wanted to accept and consequently overlooked.

Has anyone (besides the experts) with a modicum of economic business acumen tried to dissuade the reputed “art of the deal” master from his dangerous tariff “cha-cha-cha”? But a disagreement from his obsequiously agreeable inner circle could banish them post-haste to the outer limits with a deportation not out of the question.

But with 47 hell-bent on torpedoing his presidency, I have a suggestion for him. Knowing how he and Project 2025 are averse to anything deemed “woke,” I think it’s time for an executive order to reject Major League Baseball’s celebrating Jackie Robinson’s contribution to MLB. To recognize Mr. Robinson’s efforts in integrating MLB, the April 15 commemoration of #42 on every players’ uniform seems really, really, over-the-top woke!

It’s gone so well with previous efforts to deny the history of Harriet Tubman, the Tuskegee Airmen, the Navajo Code Talkers, etc. These histories that existed without any DEI mandates have self-evidently demonstrated an American history that the White supremacists among us have tried so hard to erase.

Go ahead. Strip away the truth about Jackie Robinson, and tell MLB this woke anniversary charade has gone on long enough. I dare you.
