More Taxation?

To the editor:

Governor, what is your problem?

Minnesota has $17.5 billion in surplus money which you want to spend in ridiculous ways to deplete this amount, then you plan to raise taxes?

Give Minnesotans a break, please, from all this needless spending when inflation is rampant still to truly “TAX” everyone daily to constantly pay more for the basics much less anything else.

Minnesota and the U.S. needs to install only one tax across the board, the consumption tax, wiping out all other taxes, thus everyone, rich or poor, would pay at the counter for any and all goods purchased. The more one would spend, the more taxes one would pay. Spend less, have more in your pocket, SIMPLE!

This consumption tax would be fair and affect everyone which would eliminate all payroll and state taxes, the death tax, no taxes on savings nor capital gains, no tax on Social Security!

Buying anything used, be it a car or clothes, would have no tax. Tax would only be paid on new items. Every product would cost less as IESS taxes added to the base cost of everything from farm and factory to the store.

Tennessee, Texas and Georgia have no state tax and are doing very well whereby success of one’s job and/or business is rewarded rather than punished by the government to pay, pay, pay more taxes to deplete everyone’s reserve monies.

With a consumption tax only, the U.S. could finally eliminate the IRS which is desperately needed!
