Sweet Au Revoir to a local heroine
To the editor:
I have personally witness the community and global generosity of Barb Haroldson and I would like to publicly wish her a beautiful journey to the Next Place She Goes. Barb was a great friend to my mother Lorraine Zupfer following the death of my Dad in ’94 at the young age of 63. I’ve worked at fundraisers in New Ulm and received checks in the 10s of thousands of dollars toward effort aiding individuals and National Organizations. Barb Haroldson was the most authentic person I have ever known and her generosity was a product of what she believed was her responsibility as a citizen not a tax write off or good PR. I did not know Barb well but I knew her well enough to understand when I was in the company of a great woman and to her children I say I’m sorry you don’t have your mother in the flesh anymore but what a wonderful guardian angel you and your children have. Please know that your mother and grandmother touched so many lives. Thank you for sharing her with us and may she always hear the water roll in and feel the breeze on her face in the Next Place She Goes.
