To the editor:
We are very disappointed with the rsults of the District 88 referendums. The numbers show that many New Ulm residents agree with us.
We understand it is the state's responsibility to pay for education. However, it is truly unfortunate that no matter who sits in the statehouse they neglect to send the necessary amount.
The next generation needs to compete in an ever-changing global market. This doesn't mean they need a master's degree to be gainfully employed. There is a growing shortage in the trades and manufacturing segment of our economy. Those who have the skills and can work with their hands can make a fine living. We are particularly disappointed with the defeat of supporting career and technical education.
Remember, the next generation generation needs to be successful to take care of their retired elders.
