Farmers Market returns
The New Ulm Farmers Market is back in action for the summer season. The first day of the 2026 Farmers Market was Thursday in the River Bend parking lot. The market will be held every Thursday from 2:30-5:30 p.m. until Aug 27 and every Sunday from 9 a.m.-noon until Oct. 10 in the River Bend parking lot. The New Ulm Farmers Market is a wonderful tradition where farm-fresh products are sold directly to customers. The market typically offers a wide variety of products and attracts a crowd. The opening day of the market saw a long line of customers waiting to buy from their favorite local vendors. These longs were not halted by inclement weather. Thursday’s Farmers Market was hit by heavy rain, but it didn’t stop the dedicated shoppers.

Two BMX meets over the weekend
Anyone traveling around the 300 block of South German Street on Saturday and Sunday can expect to encounter a high volume of bicycle traffic. That is because River Valley BMX bike track is hosting not one, but two qualifier races over the weekend. On Saturday, the track is hosting the Gold Cup Qualifier and on Sunday, the track is hosting the State Qualifier. River Valley BMX hosts a State Qualifier race series every year, and it always generates a high turnout with BMX riders coming from all across the state. The weekend of the State Qualifier often generates significant tourism dollars for New Ulm. The addition of the Gold Cup Qualifier will undoubtedly attract a large crowd. This will also be the first time River Valley BMX has hosted a qualifier weekend since the recent remodel of the track. This weekend will be a great chance to show off what New Ulm has to offer Minnesota’s BMX community.

Take advantage of the Free State Park Day
Anyone who is traveling to a State Park on Saturday can get in free. Today is one of four days in the year when all State Park and recreation areas have free admission. This applies to all 64 Minnesota State Parks and nine recreation areas. Most Minnesotans live within 30 miles of at least one State Park. Flandrau State Park is the closest and actually borders the city. There is also Fort Ridgely State Park near Fairfax and Minneopa near Mankato.
