Dancing like the Stars inspiring
Last weekend 2B Continued hosted its sixth annual Dancing Like the Stars event in Glencoe and it was another rousing success. The dancing competition netted $560,000 to support suicide prevention, mental health, wellness education and outreach across rural Minnesota. This annual fundraiser is a big deal. The actual competition in Glencoe consistently sells out of tickets to the point where surrounding committees are able to host screening parties. It is amazing to see multiple communities across multiple counties come together for any reason, but it is truly inspiring to see so many come out to support a worthy cause.

Severe weather season begins
Winter is over, the risk of a blizzard has passed, but tornado season has just begun. This last week was National Severe Weather Awareness Week and it landed at the right time. Monday, most of southern Minnesota was hit by extreme weather including multiple tornadoes and hail. The National Weather Service reported a tornado touchdown near Amboy. Winds reached as high as 60 mph near Lake Crystal. Other areas were hit with hail, some measuring three or four inches in diameter. New Ulm was spared much of the severe weather. High winds and rain hit the community by the hail and tornadoes stayed to the east of the community. Monday’s weather was a good reminder of why we practice tornado drills. It is best to be prepared for whatever mother nature can throw at us

Minnesota teams on a roll
Right now, Minnesota sports teams are doing extremely well. The Minnesota Twins are off to a strong start. The Timberwolves and Wild are both in the playoffs. Saturday, The Wild will begin play in the Stanley Cup playoff against Dallas, while the Timberwolves play Denver in the playoffs the same day. It is a rarity to have three of Minnesota’s professional teams playing well at the same time. It is something to be cherished while it lasts.
