COVID changes

THUMBS DOWN: It is discouraging how the COVID-19 numbers are rising at a time when we had been getting used to maskless freedom and the ability to gather with friends. Just as the Brown County Fair starts and we prepare for the Minnesota State Fair and back to school days, the numbers are rising.

Brown County Public Health (BCPH) announced Friday that the county’s transmission status has reached the High rating level. The CDC recommends that everyone in a high transmission area wear masks indoors in public places.

BCPH also recommends vaccinations for all who have not received them. It is safe, and it works to protect ourselves and others. Please consider it if you haven’t already.

Take care at the Fair

THUMBS UP: While the Brown County Fair is going on during the COVID increase, we do encourage people to attend and enjoy the activities while taking precautions. Wearing a mask in the exhibit halls, using a lot of hand sanitizer and trying to maintain social distance are all good ways to keep yourself safe at the fair.

If you are vaccinated, all the better. Be careful and have fun at the fair.

Outstanding seniors

THUMBS UP: Congratulations to two gentlemen who were honored this week at the Brown County Fair as Brown County’s Outstanding Senior Citizens for 2021. Elroy Ubl and Gerald Woodley were recognized for their long-time service and contributions to the community.

It is a well-deserved honor, and we wish to thank these two for their service.
