Thumbs Up/Down

A bit of normalcy

THUMBS UP: People are actually going into local restaurants, sitting down and eating meals. Patrons are enjoying a beverage at their local bar. At the Lyric 3, they are sitting down with giant tubs of popcorn to watch the latest Wonder Woman movie.

It’s nice to see a bit of normalcy returning to New Ulm. Even if there are limits on how many people can be in the bars or restaurants or theaters, it’s good to feel that society is opening up a bit.

Now if we could get the snow to stay away on high school sports nights, we’d be all set.

MLC moving ahead

THUMBS UP: Congratulations to Martin Luther College, which has raised the money it needs to start work on its new athletic center. A couple of generous anonymous donors put the fundraising effort over the top, and construction will start on the new center as soon as it warms up this spring.

MLC continues to find ways to improve itself, and in turn, make New Ulm better.
