FAIRFAX--Norbert "Norb" Nicholas Blumhoefer, age 86, of Fairfax, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, November 6, 2026, 10:00 A.M. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery.
Norb was born on January 2, 1940, at the family farm in rural Fairfax. He was the son of John "Mike" and Rose (Schweiss) Blumhoefer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. He also attended St. Andrew's through junior high and graduated from Fairfax High School. He just recently attended his 67th High School Class Reunion.
On April 8, 1967, Norb was united in marriage to Beverly Berg at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. This marriage was blessed with 3 children, Bob, Annie, and Joe. Norb and Bev made their home in Fairfax and celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Norb was proud to be a lifetime resident of Fairfax, however, due to declining health over the past 6 months, he resided at Orchard Hills Assisted Living in New Ulm, Minnesota, where he met new friends and received amazing, compassionate care.
In his early years, Norb was employed at Dickmeyer Ford in Fairfax and later worked over the road for Komatz Construction in St. Peter. When the children got older and Norb was needed closer to home, he began working for the Renville County Highway Department. He retired in 2001. In retirement, he enjoyed hauling grain and transporting cars for Ken Firle.
Norb enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, wood working, spending time at their winter home in Texas, and fixing things, especially small engines. He was very proud of his grandsons and great grandson and enjoyed spending time with family, neighbors, and friends. He always had a funny story or two to tell, and may have stretched the truth a time or two just to get a laugh.
Norbert passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the New Ulm Medical Center, at the age of 86 years. Blessed be his memory.
Norb is survived by his: Children, Bob Blumhoefer and significant other, Debbie, Annie Binsfeld and her husband, Mark, and Joe Blumhoefer and his significant other, Beth; Grandsons, Jordan Albrecht and his wife, Rachel, and Joseph Nguyen and his wife, Allyson; Great-grandson, Oliver Albrecht; Brothers, Eugene "Gene" Blumhoefer, and Ed Blumhoefer; Brother-in-law, Ron Berg; Sisters-in-law, Bonnie Hoffman, Esther (Dick) Scharfencamp, and Tammy (Mitch) Nachreiner; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Norbert is preceded in death by his Wife, Beverly Blumhoefer; Parents, John "Mike" and Rose Blumhoefer; Brother, Donald; Sister, Helen in infancy; Daughter-in-law, Donna Lynn Blumhoefer; Parents-in-law, Ernest and Dawn Berg; Sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Blumhoefer, Lois Blumhoefer, and Kathy Berg.
