FAIRFAX--Ruth Marie Black, age 96, of Fairfax, Minnesota, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026, at Prairie View of Hector in Hector, Minnesota.
Funeral Service was held Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with interment in the church cemetery.
Ruth Marie (Buboltz) Black was born on November 13, 1929, in Fairfax, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Fred and Marie (Bulau) Buboltz. Ruth was baptized as an infant at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 29, 1942. She received her education at St. John Lutheran School.
On February 1, 1946, Ruth was united in marriage to Marfield Black at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax. This marriage was blessed with three children, Linda, Cheryl, and Renae. Ruth and Marfield resided in rural Fairfax, and later moved to Fairfax. Ruth and Marfield shared 50 years of marriage.
Ruth was a devoted housewife and farmwife. Ruth was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Aid and was one of the Bun Ladies.
Ruth enjoyed crocheting, canning, and loved to watch cooking shows. She loved to make meals for the farm workers and was known for her rhubarb torte. Ruth and Marfield enjoyed traveling the world. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
Ruth is survived by her: children, Linda Graton, of Otsego, MN, and Renae Firle (Ken), of Alexandria, MN; Grandchildren; Kimberly (Pat) Pavloff, Michelle (Spence) Etienne, and Shawn (Karen) Firle; Great Grandchildren; Desirae (Manny) Randle, Derek (Paige) Guscette, Karissa Firle, and Riley Firle; Great-Great Grandchildren, Duane Guscette, Kinley Randle, Lorelai Guscette, and Kendall Randle. Many other relatives and friends.
Ruth is preceded in death by her Husband, Marfield in1996; Daughter, Cheryl Dummer in 1995; Grandson, Scott Guscette; Parents, Fred and Marie Buboltz; and Son-in-law, Warren Graton.
