NEW ULM--Darlene Wolf (Knaak, Olson), born November 2nd, 1945, faithfully stepped into the arms of her Savior and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on September 15, 2026, at the age of 80. She walked through life with an extraordinary grace, leaving behind a profound legacy of kindness, warmth, and strength.
A remarkably kind soul, she possessed a gift for hospitality and a heart that knew no bounds, making the very best of every day. She opened her doors and provided a loving haven for family and friends during times of hardship. Those welcomed to her table were treated to the true bounty of her talents, from original dinners and stews crafted with her own garden produce, home baked breads, comforting desserts, and delightful jams foraged from nature.
Her touch was magic in the earth. She was an amazing gardener who tenderly nurtured both indoor and outdoor plants, bringing beauty to life all around her. Her deep love for animals and her community led her to found the Cottonwood Ridge Boarding Kennel, where she served local families from Hanska, Searles, and New Ulm, MN for years with expert dog care and obedience training. A passionate breeder, she raised Doberman Pinschers and took great pride in winning many blue-ribbon awards at kennel club competitions.
She found immense happiness in the simplicity and beauty of the great outdoors. She cherished family camping trips surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and in-laws.
Her favorite pastime was exploring nearby thrift and antique shops with family and friends, always on the lookout for Native American collectibles and special items to enrich her home. Among her favorite memories were the adventurous Sturgis motorcycle trips and "Rendezvous" Pow Wow getaways, where she shared a deep connection with her dearest friends. Above all else, her life was defined by her fierce love for her family and the beautiful example of devotion she set for them every single day.
While her last years were fraught with Parkinson's challenge, she experienced the love of Jesus through the heartfelt care provided by Oak Hills Living Center, Visiting Angels, and Hospice.
Welcoming her into eternity, Darlene was preceded in death by parents Arthur and Stella Olson and husband Wallace Arnold Knaak (Wally). After her mother's passing, she was raised by her aunt, Alma Chambard, a relationship that deeply influenced her life and her children's.
Darlene's legacy of love, faith, and generosity will live on through those who survive her. She is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children Dana (Charles) Effenberger, Timothy (Jane) Knaak, Kristi (Mark) Kowal, and Gregory Knaak (Lauren), eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
Service Information:
Darlene's celebration of life will be held on September 25th at Grace Community Church, New Ulm, MN. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m., followed by lunch and burial processional to Nora Unitarian Church, Hanska, MN.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations may be made to Oak Hills Foundation and Forever Home Animal Sanctuary, New Ulm MN.
