Charles “Chuck” Hier Schewe

NEW ULM--Charles "Chuck" Hier Schewe, of New Ulm, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Chuck was born on December 13, 1936, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Stanley and Muriel (Hier) Schewe. On September 14, 1955, he was united in marriage to Clarice Schwartz. Together they had four wonderful children whom they raised on their farm near Sleepy Eye. After Clarice's passing, Chuck married Carolyn Klimpel on June 16, 1984.

Chuck was a lifelong farmer and in partnership with his son, Chris, in the turkey breeding business for many years. He enjoyed traveling, working with his draft horses, and trail riding, with trips taking him everywhere from the Black Hills to the Grand Canyon. Later in life, he enjoyed riding his ATV and spending his winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. Chuck was a kind and caring man, known for his unique and witty sense of humor. He always had a story to share or a joke to tell. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; children, Candy (Ralph) Larro of Preston, Chris (Julia) Schewe of Sleepy Eye, Cathy (Alan Schwerzler) Schewe of Stillwater, and Casey (Kelly) Schewe of New Ulm; stepsons, Erik Klimpel and James Klimpel; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Isder.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clarice; parents, Stanley and Muriel; sister, Ruth Miehlisch; granddaughter, Paislee Mangen; and stepmother, Adeline Berkner.
