NEW ULM--Virginia "Mickey" Richter, age 90, of New Ulm, died peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. She is survived by her children, Becky (Mike) Groebner of New Ulm, Georgia "Joie" (Jerry) Froelich of Minnetonka, and Sherry (Jeff) Rose of New Ulm; Steve (Shelly) Engelby of New Ulm; grandchildren, Bryan Drahota, Brandon Drahota, Mandi Hewitt, and Charlie Ahlbrecht; great-grandchildren, Mya Fischer, Mason Ahlbrecht, Riley Warren, and Grayson Drahota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane "Bud" Richter; daughter, Shelly Berg; sister, Sally Mueller; brother, James (Betty) Liebl; and grandson, Wesley Drahota.
Mickey was born on July 22, 1936, in Nicollet County to Frank and Helen (Penkert) Liebl. She graduated from New Ulm High School in June 1954. On August 21, 1954, she married Duane "Bud" Richter. Mickey enjoyed Bible study, reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family.
Mickey will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her loving memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
