Jan. 12, 1954-Aug. 3, 2026

FAIRFAX--Randy Emil Werner, age 72, passed away on Monday, August 3, at Prairie View Assisted Living in Hector, Minnesota.

Randy was born on January 12, 1954, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Raymond and Edna (Bessmer) Werner. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 1972.

In 1974, Randy was united in marriage to the love of his life, Valleen (Messner) Werner. Together, they made their home in Winthrop and were blessed with four children: Alethea Mae, Arianna Marie, Ezra William, and Elias James.

Randy began his working life as a truck driver for Michael Foods in Gaylord, formerly known as Crystal Farms. He later joined B&R Plumbing in Winthrop, where he earned his journeyman license. Randy took great pride in his work and valued his co-workers, as well as the opportunity to serve the residents of Winthrop and the surrounding communities.

Randy had an adventurous spirit. Just nine months before Mount St. Helens erupted, he climbed the mountain in Washington with a group of friends. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and sports, especially wrestling; where he was the state high school wrestling runner-up during his senior year.

Randy's life was defined by hard work, dedication, and love for his family. His strong work ethic, quiet strength, and commitment to putting his family first will be lovingly remembered by his children and his family.

Randy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Valleen; his parents, Raymond and Edna Werner; his parents-in-law, Melvin and Vernita "Nitz" Messner; his brother-in-law, Dennis Grack; and his sister-in-law, Vanna Messner.
