Karen G. Farrell

NEW ULM--Karen G. Farrell, age 82, of New Ulm, died on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home - SOUTH Chapel, with Pastor Teresa Pekarek officiating. Burial will be in Current Cemetery, rural New Ulm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home - SOUTH Chapel on Thursday. Karen is survived by her husband, Richard Gurska Jr.; daughter, Meghan (Michael) Frehse; step-daughter, Mary (Joseph) Cuff; step-sons, Robert (Jennifer) Gurska and Daniel (Kelsy Karrigan) Gurska; seven grandchildren, Ethan (Arlo), William, James, Abel, Isabella, Grace, and Edward; sister, Denice (Scott) Hinrichs; and sister-in-law, Brenda Dallmann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Marlys Seifert; and step-brother, Michael Dallmann.

Karen Gail Seifert was born on August 31, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI to Sylvester "Seab" & Caledonia (Barnell) Seifert. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1961. Karen then attended Minneapolis Community College. She was united in marriage to Richard Gurska Jr. on June 11, 1989 in Minneapolis. Karen had many jobs and interests. She met her husband Richard while selling real estate. They once owned a grocery in Minneapolis, and she later owned a restaurant in Gibbon. Karen loved meeting with her beloved Tea Ladies on Thursdays at her place, floral arranging, cooking, and correcting her husband. She also enjoyed researching family history and traveling. She visited Ireland three times and was a foreign exchange student in Germany in 1962.
