NEW ULM--Terrance "Terry" F. Wellner, age 84, of New Ulm, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Oak Hills Living Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial, with full military honors provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Guard, will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Terry is survived by his brother, James Wellner of New Ulm; his niece, Susie (Joey) Helget of Lafayette; his nephews, Charles Milbrett of St. James and Dennis (Audrey) Milbrett of New Ulm; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephew and additional relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, June (Fred) Milbrett; his twin brother, Thomas Wellner; and his nephew, Richard Milbrett.
Terrance Frederick Wellner was born on March 16, 1942, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Alton and Martha (Frank) Wellner. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1960.
Terry proudly served his country in both the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard as an Aeromedical Technician. During his distinguished military career spanning more than 36 years, from 1961 to 2002, he attained the rank of Major. His service took him to Pakistan, Thailand, numerous Air Force installations throughout the United States, and the Minneapolis VA Hospital. Terry took tremendous pride in his military service and was deeply committed to caring for fellow service members and veterans.
Terry retired from Allina Health as an emergency room nurse and then lovingly cared for his mother until her death. He enjoyed staying connected with friends and family, sharing stories from his years of military service and nursing, and taking pride in helping others throughout his life. Terry will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to service, and deep love for his mother. His commitment to caring for others, whether in uniform, at the hospital, or at home, left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
