A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH chapel and will continue from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at church, prior to the service. Greg is survived by his loving wife, Mona Witt of New Ulm; daughters, Megan (Todd Kreilkamp) Meier of New Ulm and Alisha (Jerry Michealson) Hayes of Fairbault; grandchildren, Halle Meier, Haden Meier, and Avery Hayes; sister, Bev (Ed) Reynolds of Sleepy Eye; brother, Ronald Witt of Richfield; sister-in-law, Gail (Gordy) Werner of Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kevin Witt; brother-in-law, Ronald Martin.

Gregory Allen Witt was born April 22, 1954 in Sleepy Eye to Kenneth and Adeline (Weiss) Witt. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s High School. In 1976, Greg began his career at AMPI, where he remained a dedicated employee until retiring in 2018. While working at AMPI, he met the love of his life, Mona Martin. The couple was united in marriage on June 30, 1979, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Together they made their home in New Ulm, where they were blessed with two daughters and proudly raised their family.

Greg’s authenticity put people at ease immediately, making every first meeting feel familiar. He loved spending time on the golf course, casting a line while fishing, and following just about any sport. He also enjoyed listening to classic rock music, attending concerts, and never missed an opportunity to watch his grandchildren participate in their sporting events and other activities.

Greg loved good food, great conversation, and gathering with family and friends over a beverage at his favorite bar, Smiley’s. His warm smile, affectionate nature, welcoming spirit, and quick sense of humor made everyone feel like they belonged.

More than anything, Greg will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends and for the kindness and laughter he brought into the lives of so many. His generous heart, inclusive spirit, and unwavering support of those he loved will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Blessed be his memory.
