Cheryl Ann DeRee was born on January 9, 1951, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, to Linwood and Constance (Ellis) DeRee. She graduated from Rockland High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, Cheryl was united in marriage to the love of her life, Manfred Blank, on June 21, 1969, in Weymouth. That November, the couple moved to New Ulm before making their home in Sleepy Eye in 1972, where they built a life together and raised their family.

Throughout the years, Cheryl dedicated herself to serving others. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Divine Providence Community Home, as a custodian at Sleepy Eye Public Schools, and later as a custodian at Sleepy Eye Care Center.

Cheryl found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, dancing, and spending her summers at Morningstar Resort with a community of friends and neighbors who became more like family. She treasured the time spent with her family and friends. Cheryl had a kind and generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her caring spirit, unwavering devotion and love for her family, and quiet acts of kindness will be remembered by all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those who loved her.

Blessed be her memory.
