Patricia A. Mathiowetz

NEW ULM–Patricia A. Mathiowetz, age 79 of New Ulm, died on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Home Cemetery, 700 St. Mary’s St. N.E. in Sleepy Eye. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Patricia Ann Mathiowetz was born on June 30th, 1947, in Comfrey to Thomas and Irene (Amsden) Hornick. She grew up in Comfrey and graduated from Comfrey High School. She married Vincent Hugo Mathiowetz on October 1, 1966, in Murdock, MN.

She worked for the city of Sleepy Eye as a meter reader and various other jobs. Pat and Vince lived in Sleepy Eye until 1992, moved to Richmond until 2007 where they built their family lake home and later returned to Sleepy Eye then onto New Ulm where Pat had a house built.

She enjoyed boating, camping, playing bingo and Uno.

Pat is survived by her sons, Gregory (Alex), Gary, and Troy; sisters, Mary Elwood, Colleen (Mike) Fischer and Rhonda (Dave) Sampson; sisters and brother-in-law, Alice Wellman, Lucy Moldaschel and Lenny Seidl. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert; nephew, Mike Tordsen; niece, Rita (Fischer) Pomerenke; father and mother-in-law, Louis and Helen Mathiowetz; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Dorothy) Mathiowetz, Chuck Wellman, Chuck Moldaschel, and Margie Seidl; and nephew, Richard Wellman.
