SLEEPY EYE — Bernice Martha Goldschmidt, 95, of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, with her family by her side at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey, Minnesota with visitation beginning two hours prior to the service. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
She is survived by her children, Gail (Daryl) Sonnabend of Darfur, Kim Goldschmidt, daughter-in-law of St. James, Gwen (John) Schueller of Sleepy Eye, Gregg (Deb) Goldschmidt of Sveadahl, & Gene (Shawna) Goldschmidt of Maple Grove. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tina, Amber, Dustin, Aaron, Katy, Kara, Zachary, Joshua, Jacob, Ray; great-grandchildren; sister, Margie Losleben of Sleepy Eye, sisters-in-law, Carol Hengel of Sleepy Eye, Sr. Audrey Goldschmidt of Rochester, Elaine Briggs of Sleepy Eye, Rosie Goldschmidt of Willmar, Olive Goldschmidt of Hutchinson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Bernice’s family wishes to thank the staff of Divine Providence Community Home, Dr. Karlyn Armbruster, Maureen Heiderscheidt and the Sleepy Eye Medical Center staff for the compassionate care they provided.
