NEW ULM–Shirley Ann Brand, age 93, of Springfield, MN, died on June 17, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Springfield, MN. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Springfield. Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery in Springfield, MN. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. The service will be livestreamed and found on the Springfield United Methodist Church Facebook page found at www.facebook.com/spfldmnumc

Shirley Brand was born on October 30, 1932 to Harry and Helen (Roggenbuck) Timm on the family farm in Stately Township. She was raised on the farm with 2 older brothers – Kenneth and Lowell. When she was 9 years old World War II started and both her brothers served during this time. Shirley attended school at Dotson School District 62 through 8th grade and then graduated in June of 1950 as the class salutatorian from Springfield High School. She then attended Mankato Teacher’s College from September 1950-June 1951. On June 5, 1952, Shirley was united in marriage to Robert Brand at the United Methodist Church in Springfield. The couple lived on a farm until moving to Springfield, then to Wood Lake, Ellendale, Wabasso, Sanborn Corners, and back to Springfield in 1968. Shirley worked various jobs throughout the years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and served as the organist for nearly 50 years, chairperson of the funeral committee, and the UMW; she was also a member of the Eastern Star and sang in the Christmas pageant choir for many years. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, music, reading, TV, playing games, and walking.

She is survived by her children – Arden (Bonnie) Brand of Springfield, Arlis (Al) Feser of Hutchinson, Deanna (Greg) Ryan of Waterville, Lonnie (Judy) Brand of Hutchinson, and Cory (Kari) Brand of Springfield; 15 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 7 step great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2019, parents, brothers – Kenneth and Lowell, Bob’s twin brother Ronald, Bob’s sisters – Vivian, Winnifred, and Erma, and niece Charlene.
