Nancy Louise Oberg

Dec. 3, 1947-March 18, 2026

NEW ULM — Nancy Louise Oberg, age 78 of New Ulm and formerly of Lindstrom was born on December 3, 1947 in Rush City, MN to parents, Ernest and Wanda (Onasch) Anderson.

Nancy passed away on May 24, 2026 at United Hospital in St. Paul from complications of hip surgery on March 18, 2026.

Nancy grew up on a farm near Stacy MN. She graduated from Forest Lake High School and afterwards Nancy worked for Control Data where she learned about computers for the first time. On August 21, 1965 Nancy was united in marriage to David Oberg at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stacy. Nancy and David started their life together in Chisago City. Several years later they moved back to Chisago City bought a home and lived there until David’s death in 2022.

Nancy and David had three children Kim, Shane, and Carey. Nancy was able to stay home with the children until her youngest daughter Carey went to school.

Nancy then got a job at Sell Publishing Peach and Times Newspaper Company in Forest Lake, where she worked for many years. Nancy then went to work at Branch Manufacturing in North Branch. Her final job which she enjoyed was working at Chisago County where Nancy made lifelong friends working for the county. She retired from Chisago county about 12 years ago.

Nancy had many hobbies including embroidery, cross stitching, crocheting, making blankets and collecting cows. She especially enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy’s unwavering faith in God brought her through many challenges with the deaths of her children, Kim, Shane and her beloved husband, David. Nancy ‘s faith in God brought her through some very difficult times. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Nancy was a beautiful, kind, caring, and a strong woman. Her smile and laugh could brighten a room. Nancy will be missed by everyone who knew her. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Ernest and Wanda, siblings Carolyn, Ronald and Geraldine, daughter Kim, son Shane and husband, David. She is survived by daughter, Carey (David) Mosel of Lafayette, MN. daughter-in-law, Jo Oberg from Mitchell, SD grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousin’s, many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life to hon- or Nancy will be held at Paradise Park in Chisago City on August 15, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A luncheon will be served. Family and friends will gather for fellowship sharing stories, and memories about Nancy. At 2 p.m family will gather at Oak Hill Cemetery in Harris to say our fi- nale goodbye’s.
