Lyndon B. Jones

NEW ULM–Lyndon B. Jones was born March 29, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to David and Eileen (Lindgren) Jones. Lyndon was raised in River Falls where he attended school and graduated in 1947. On March 28, 1951, he joined the Army and served in Korea where he received a meritorious Bronze Star Medal.
On June 2, 1953, he married Mavis Rasumssen of River Falls. They lived in River Falls, raising three children, until 1964 when they moved to New Ulm, MN for Lyndon to help start up a new 3M plant. Lyndon left 3M in 1974 and worked other jobs before retiring from Windings. Lyndon was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins.
He was an active member of the New Ulm American Legion, Comrades of Valor, Turner Club, and the New Ulm Fast Pitch Softball Association.
Lyndon, just short of his 96th birthday, died peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Oak Hill Living Center in New Ulm.
Lyndon is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mavis (Rasumssen) Jones; children, Linda (Mark) Holste of Niwot, CO, Kenneth (Ronda) Jones of New Ulm, and Randall (Brenda) Jones of New Ulm; grandchildren, Victor (Mari) Jones, John Holste (Lauren Miller), Sarah Holste, Brittany (Greg) Olson, Douglas Jones; great-grandchildren, Darien Jones, Michael Jones, Ivan Jones, Willow Olson, June Olson, Rosemary Holste Miller; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Eileen (Lindgren) Jones; sister, Audrey; brothers Grant, Kermit, Emery, David, and Wendell; and his mother-in-law, Louise Rasmussen.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 16, 2026 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Interment will follow lunch in Solders’ Rest New Ulm with military honors provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
