Velma (Jones) Currie
MESA, AZ–Velma (Jones) Currie, 80, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025. She was one of “the twins” born on January 27, 1945 in New Ulm, Minnesota to Edwin and Emma (Campbell) Jones of Cambria, Minnesota. Velma was raised on the farm and graduated from New Ulm High School in 1963 and Mankato State College in 1967. Velma lived and worked in Faribault, Minnesota. After her retirement, she moved to Arizona in 2014.
Velma is survived by her brother, Eldon (Carol) Jones, her twin sister, Selma (Bob) Laubach, sisters-in-law Shirley Jones and Diane Jones, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many special friends. Along with her parents, Velma was proceeded in death by her oldest brother, Ernest, and her youngest brother, Loren.
You are invited to a celebration of Velma’s life at the Town Hall in Cambria, Minnesota on May 30, 2026 at 1:30 pm. We will share memories and dine together. In lieu of a memorial gift, the family asks that you share a special time with your family/friends in memory of Velma. She will be greatly missed and remembered by many.
