NEW ULM– Dennis “Spook” Walter Lang, 70, of New Ulm died Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Grace Community Church in New Ulm. Pastor Phil Schenck will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH Chapel in New Ulm. Visitation will continue from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at Grace Community Church in New Ulm.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Towles; his son, Jeremy (Becky) Lang; his sisters, Cathy (Doug) Jutz, and Karen (Cal) Lindmeier; his brothers, John (Linda) Lang and Jeff (Roxi) Lang; his grandsons, Ethan and Evan Lang; his step-sons, Michael (Alyssa) Towles, Adam Towles, and Jonathan Towles; and his step-grandchildren, Julene, Tanis, Asher, and Aurora Towles. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Dennis Lang Jr.
Dennis was born on September 22, 1955, in New Ulm to Walter and Lucille (Wolfe) Lang. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1974. Dennis discovered he had a natural talent for welding while taking an agriculture class in high school. He quickly mastered the skill and turned it into a lifelong career working at Riblet, which later became Caterpillar, in New Ulm.
Dennis took great pride in his 1970 Dodge Challenger, which was his prized possession. He even earned a trophy with it at a drag strip before eventually selling it to support his growing family. On May 13, 1977, he married Carol Haala Haubrich; the couple later divorced. Dennis was later united marriage to Evelyn Donahue Towles on May 19th, 2007 in New Ulm.
Dennis enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, cutting wood, and spending time visiting with family and friends.
