Colin Steven Haley

ST. PAUL–Colin Steven Haley, 44, of Saint Paul, Minnesota died Tuesday, April 7, following a brief illness.

He was born in St. Paul to loving parents, Mary and Gary Haley, and spent most of his youth in New Ulm, MN. He attended Hamline University before working as a Congressional Legislative Assistant in Washington, D.C. A life-long lover of well-formed arguments, he attended William Mitchell School of Law and had a challenging and fulfilling career as a criminal prosecutor at the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office. Colin took great pride in protecting his community and was honored to serve in a job that many would have found impossible.

The only thing he was prouder of was his son, Francis, 8. They loved baseball and Yahtzee and movie nights. Colin could always be counted on to cue up the perfect playlist for any occasion, know the actor from any movie, or recommend a spot for a great meal in St. Paul. With those he most adored, he shared his sentimental love of poetry and family traditions. The luckiest of us continue to carry the nicknames he gave us.

He is survived by his son, Francis, and Francis’ mother, Katharine Tinucci; his parents, Mary and Gary Haley; his sister, Megan (Machin McHargue) Haley; nieces Imogene and Olive McHargue; and many extended family members, friends, and colleagues.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at The Church of the Assumption in St. Paul, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. and services at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at Mancini’s. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to a memorial fund being established in Francis’ name. Please also bring a memory of Colin to share with Francis so that he might continue to get to know his dad as he grows up.
