Jeffrey “Jeff” Steven Klinkner was born in Madelia on June 7, 1974 to Steven and Donna (Depuydt) Klinkner. He was a graduate of Madelia High School in 1992. He then chose to further his education at Riverland Technical College studying construction and cabinet making, graduating in 1994. Jeff married Tonya Schultz on April 8, 1995 and their union was blessed with three children: Kyle, Brandon and Mikayla. Jeff was always busy taking care of his family, friends and his customers. He worked for local contractors and cabinet shops until starting Klink’s Woodworking and Construction in July of 2001. Jeff installed for local businesses and big box stores for 13 years. Most recently, he enjoyed returning to serving local customers and contractors in the Madelia area.
Jeff gave his time and talents to others, expecting nothing in return. He was quick to action when there was a call for help. He had the best advice for his family and gave life lessons whether we needed them or not. He took time out of his busy schedule to instill Boy Scout values with his sons, later acting in both assistant scoutmaster and scoutmaster roles for the Madelia troop. Jeff was known for telling “dad” jokes, making people laugh and his unwavering love of anything John Deere. He was an all around great person – an admirable family man, a giving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and community member. He was certainly not finished giving to those he loved and cared for and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Tonya Klinkner of Madelia; children, Kyle (Shelby Francis) Klinkner of Shakopee, Brandon Klinkner of Lake Crystal, Mikayla (Allen Halbert) Klinkner of Montrose; grandson, Brooks Peterson-Klinkner; mother, Donna Klinkner of Madelia; sister, Sheila Sickler of Lake Crystal; parents-in-law, Rich and Sue Schultz of Morgan; brother-in-law, Justin Schultz of Sanborn, and many family and friends. He is most recently preceded in death by his father, Steven Klinkner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
