HOPKINS — Lois M. Bushard, age 93 of Hopkins died Monday, October 23, 2023 at The Glenn Assisted Living Facility in Hopkins. Lois was born on her parents’ farm near Clements, MN. After graduating high school in Wabasso, she practiced nursing at Lorretto Hospital in New Ulm for several years.

She met her husband, Donald J. Bushard, at George’s Ballroom in 1951, and they married in 1953. They moved to Hopkins and started a family. Lois worked for many years at a fine-dining restaurant, Bursch’s, in Hopkins as a banquet server, where she made so many dear friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Susan Pelzel; her husband of 54 years, Donald J. Bushard; her brother, Kenneth Pelzel; her daughter, Mary Jo Kemper; survived by her brother, Eugene Gores of Glenwood; her sister, Margaret Ann Baune of Wabasso; son, Thomas of Mpls; son, Michael of Erie, CO; daughter, Ann Marie of Rochester; special family friend, Chris Marquardt of Mpls; 4 grandchildren, Donald, Heather, Justin, Colton, and many great grandchildren and friends.

Memorial Mass Christian Funeral will be Wednesday, May 29, at 10 a.m.with visitation from 9-10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 1310 Main Street, Hopkins. Burial will be at a later date at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Wabasso. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Alzheimer’s Foundation. Arr. by: Washburn-McReavy 952-938-9020.
