WINTHROP–JoAnn Kolbaske, age 86, of Winthrop passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Hutchinson Health in Hutchinson.Memorial Service will be Thursday, May 2, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bismarck Township, Sibley County, MN, with Pastor Andrew Evenson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. JoAnn Violet Kolbaske was born on August 11, 1937, in Sibley Township, Sibley County, MN. She was the daughter of Charles and Erna (Quast) Dietz. JoAnn was baptized as an infant on August 29, 1937, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She received her education at District #59 Country School and was a graduate of the Gaylord High School Class of 1955.

On October 22, 1958, JoAnn was united in marriage to Victor Kolbaske at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Bismarck Township. JoAnn and Victor were blessed with two daughters, Lori and Lisa. JoAnn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved spoiling her grandchildren. JoAnn and Victor shared 51 years of marriage when he passed away on March 8, 2010.

JoAnn was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township and was the secretary for 40 plus years. She was the Clerk of Bismarck Township for 40 years, served as secretary for NFO, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. JoAnn was employed at HTI for 10 years, Hands, Inc. in Winthrop.

JoAnn enjoyed helping on the farm where she raised many calves. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, counted cross-stitch, puzzles, painting, reading, playing cards, especially Sheephead and 500, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Lori Radtke and her husband, Keith of Darwin, MN, and Lisa Taralseth and her husband, Jesse of Gibbon, MN; grandchildren, Luke Radtke, Matthew Radtke and his wife, Brittany, Kari Pagel and her husband, Max, and Kevin Taralseth; great-grandchildren, Kinley Pagel, Franklin Radtke, Maliah Pagel and Eleanor Radtke; sister-in-law, Diane Dietz of Gaylord, MN; brother-in-law, Dennis Kolbaske and his wife, Sharlene of Winthrop, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Erna Dietz; husband, Victor Kolbaske; brother, Karl Dietz.
