NEW ULM–Jeanette “Tootie” Christensen, age 93 of New Ulm died Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

A memorial service will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH chapel, with a reception to follow. Burial will take place in New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9-12 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home. The Christian Mother’s Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. Jeanette is survived by her sons, Steve Christensen of Owatonna and Randy (Marlene) Christensen of New Ulm; grandchildren, Brent (Jessica) Christensen, Nicole (Shannon) MacNammee, Bryan (Sarah) Christensen, Andrea (Eric) Magnuson; step-granddaughters, Lexy (Michael Toland) Samdal, Lacey (Nathan) Gilden; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Julia, Peyton, Baya, Ascher, Lily, Dominick, and Gaby; sisters, Viola “Mutsi” Schaefer and Joleen “Beke” (Ronald) Altman, both of New Ulm; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Veronica Brueske; husband, Leonard Christensen; sister, Patsy Sprenger; brother-in-law, Harvey Schaefer; nephew, David Schaefer; nieces in infancy.

Jeanette “Tootie” Marie Brueske was born July 13, 1930 in New Ulm to Raymond and Veronica (Zangl) Brueske. She attended school at Holy Trinity. On June 21, 1948 Tootie was united in marriage to Leonard Christensen at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. The couple was blessed with two sons whom together they raised in New Ulm. Tootie worked over 20 years at BF Goodrich fabricating refrigerator gaskets. Tootie was a social person and loved to spend time visiting over a cold beer. Tootie would make friends with people of all ages. She liked to have fun and was fun to be around. Over the years, she had the best of times with her mother, sisters and brothers-in-law having garage parties, many Halloween parties, or in the New Ulm bars. Tootie enjoyed all kinds of music, especially polka, celebrating at New Ulm’s many festivals, and trips to Jackpot. She was always happy when she could have her favorite potato pancakes on dinner outings with her family. Tootie was a life-long member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Church, a member of the Christian Mother’s and previously, St. Elizabeth Society. Tootie had a lasting impact on an immeasurable amount of people and will be deeply missed.
