HANSKA–Elroy Leland Wellmann, born on May 31, 1937, to Elmer and Josie Wellmann of rural Hanska, peacefully passed away on March 25, 2024, after a long decline from dementia.

Elroy was one of five children and lived most of his life on the farm he grew up on. Elroy’s life revolved around farming. He enjoyed tending to his crops and livestock as well as his dogs. On September 4, 1971, he married Ardis Schultz. Together, Elroy and Ardis raised two children, John and Kristen.

Elroy is survived by his wife, Ardis, his son John, and his wife Wendy of Madison Lake, and their children, Elizabeth and William; his daughter Kristen, of Hanska, also mourns his loss. Elroy is also survived by his brothers, Wallace and wife Beverly Jean of St. James, Allen and LaFaye Wellmann of Madelia, and his sister Norma and her husband Roger Breu of Searles. Additionally, he leaves behind his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Pam Schultz, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elroy was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Josie Wellmann, and younger brother Dennis, who died in Vietnam.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the following organizations: the New Ulm FFA chapter, the Dennis Wellmann Memorial Scholarship, the Hanska Public Library, or the Hanska Fire Department.
