Marion Dittrich

MANKATO–Marion Dittrich, age 91, of Perham and formerly of Mankato and New Ulm, died Thursday, April 4, 2024 at the Perham Living Center in Perham, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2024 at St. Peter’s and Paul’s Catholic Church in Mankato. Father Joseph Fogal will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 16th, 2024 at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.

Marion is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, JoEllen and Dan Reeck, Celeste and Paul Bearden, Francine Dittrich, Elizabeth Dittrich, DeMaris Dittrich-Feike and Jeff Feike; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sally Dittrich, Robert and Sheree Dittrich, Howard and Brenda Dittrich; grandchildren; great grandchildren; brother, Udean Sargent; sisters-in-law, Anita Dittrich and Shirley Rolstad; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Minnie Sargent; husband, James “Jim” Dittrich; newborn daughter, Leslie Dittrich; and family members, Thomas Sargent, Merle Sargent, Norbert Sargent, Karen and David Ries, Jerome (Jerry) Dittrich, Arline and Dennis (Denny) Drill, Rose and David Chandler, Delores (Dee) and Edward (Eddie) Schonauer, Dean Rolstad, Brenda Sargent.

Marion Darlene Sargent was born on June 10, 1932 to Irvin and Minnie (Bollig) Sargent in St. James. She graduated from St. James High School and went on to attend college for nursing. On June 18, 1955, Marion was united in marriage to James “Jim” Dittrich in St. James. Their union was blessed with nine children. Marion dedicated her life to caring for her children and husband. In addition to being a mother and wife, Marion also spent over 25 years volunteering with Meals on Wheels, over 20 years volunteering with V.I.N.E., 8 years with the Catholic Daughters, and taught CCD at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church. Marion was an avid crafter, knitter and seamstress. Marion was also an avid gardener; her family often dined on the fruits of her labor. She enjoyed bingo and bowling; she loved playing card games and played with multiple bridge groups. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Many fond memories were made at her home where she often hosted family gatherings for holidays and other events. Marion will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Blessed be her memory.
