Marlys Marie Stark was born on October 17, 1933, in Fernando, Minnesota-Sibley County to Milton and Karen (Kruse) Stark. Growing up in rural Sibley County, she attended country grade school, and later attended Gibbon High School. Marlys was united in marriage to Daryl Taralseth on September 21, 1950, at the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Fernando. This union blessed the couple with two daughters and a son whom together they raised in Gibbon. Early in her life, Marlys worked at the local A&W. After marriage, she worked at Curt’s Kitchen, Walter’s Grocery and Dry Goods Store in Gibbon. She later worked at Fingerhut in Gaylord, and eventually for 3M in New Ulm until her retirement in 1990. In their retirement, Marlys and Daryl moved to Baudette in 1996 and while living there, cared for an elderly neighbor. Together with her husband Daryl, the couple also traveled the country seeing all of the sights they could in their motorhome. Being the social person she was, Marlys enjoyed participating in bowling league, card club, as well as Community Circle. She was a devout member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon where she volunteered many years as a Sunday school teacher. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
