David R. Kokesch

April 18, 1939-March 21, 2024

GIBBON–David R. Kokesch, age 84, of Gibbon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon, with Father Brendan Rolling celebrating the mass. Burial with military honors accorded by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will follow in St. Willibrord’s Catholic Cemetery.

David is survived by his wife, Dolores; sons, Douglas (Mary) of Prescott, WI and Duane of Laurel, MD; grandchildren, Cory Kokesch of Ellsworth, WI and Amanda Kokesch of Wilmar; great-grandchildren, Haley Helgren, Kaden Taube, Gage Kokesch, Axel Kokesch, and Cooper Kokesch; sister, Barbara Windschitl of Sleepy Eye; sisters-in-law, Delores Kokesch and Jean Kokesch; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dean Kokesch; his parents; brothers, Willard (Jean), Vernus, John, and George Kokesch; and a sister, Mary Lou (Roman) Huiras.

David Rudy Kokesch was born on April 18, 1939 in New Ulm to Adolph & Myra (Grosam) Kokesch. He graduated from Gibbon High School in 1958. David then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1961. He was united in marriage to Dolores Hoffmann on May 5, 1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. David farmed in Gibbon for over twenty years, and drove a tractor trailer until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 132 and St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church.
