NEW ULM–RoseMarie Van Winkle, age 87, of New Ulm, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 16, 2024 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday March 23 at Oakwood United Methodist Church, New Ulm. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

RoseMarie Bangerter was born on March 6, 1937 to Walter and Mae Bangerter in Wabasso, MN. She graduated from Wabasso High School in 1955. On April 18, 1959 she married Dean Van Winkle at the EUB church in Wabasso, MN. Their union was blessed with 3 sons and a daughter. She worked various jobs in New Ulm including Tachtronics, Windings, Kraft and 3M. She worked until her declining health forced her to retire. She suffered nearly 50 years with rheumatoid arthritis which she graciously endured and persevered with.

She was a very kind and loving woman who always had time for her family and friends. They spent many years traveling, enjoying their cabin on Lake Vermont, and spending winters in Arizona.

She also loved going for walks, baking her famous banana bars and other yummy treats, playing cards, crafting and puzzling.

RoseMarie is survived by her children; Barry (Audrey) of Farmington, Gail (Gary) LeGare of Lafayette, Steve (Tammy) of Lakeville, Neal (Laurie) of Farmington, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. Brother Dave Bangerter of Bemidji, Sisters Marlys Neudecker of Farmington, Karen Johnson of Perham, MN, Peggy Boniarczyk of Surprise, AZ, Nancy (Shel) Anderson of Apple Valley, Mary (Glenn) Laudenslauger of Surprise, AZ and Dorothy Bergeland of Surprise, AZ. Sister in Law’s Judy Bangerter of Richfield, Betty Johnson of Ft Collins,Co and brother-in-law Ray Kirk of Balaton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, her parents Walter and Mae Bangerter, her in-law’s Glen and Luella Van Winkle, infant sister Betty, brothers Scott, Neal and Tom. Sister and brother-in-laws, Jackie Bangerter, Joe Neudecker, LeRoy Johnson, Lois and Kay Bangerter, Joe Boniarczyk, Arnold (Helen) Van Winkle, Irma (Lawrence) Fedde, Jane Kirk and Royal Johnson. Waiting in heaven also is grandson, Eric Van Winkle.

She was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and served on many committees.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
