LUCAN–Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis Catherine Janachovsky will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan beginning at 10:30 a.m. A public visitation will take place at church from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. with a rosary beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery in Lucan following the funeral mass. Upon conclusion of the graveside service a funeral luncheon will be held at the Lucan Community Center.

Phyllis Catherine (Bauer) Janachovsky was born June 15, 1929 on the family farm in Stately Township to Frank and Anna (Kastner) Bauer. Phyllis was baptized and confirmed in St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springfield. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Springfield Public High School.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Robert John Janachovsky in December 29, 1954 in St. Raphael’s Catholic in Springfield. They farmed in Westline Township in Redwood County. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and CCW. Phyllis was devoted to her faith and family. She valued education and after completing teacher training in Glencoe she taught in a country school house in Stately Township. She was later employed at Lamberton, Milroy, and Walnut Grove School Districts.

Phyllis passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024 at the age of 94 years 8 months 23 days at her home in Lucan surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her children Gene Janachovsky, Jayne (Dale) Kazemba, Greg Janachovsky; grandchildren Danyelle (Mitchell) Masters, Derek (Amanda) Kazemba; great-grandson Luca Masters; sister Bernadine Roiger, brother Arnold Bauer.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband Robert Janachovsky; parents Frank and Anna Bauer; daughter Joy Janachovsky; siblings-in-law Wilbert Roiger, Raymond and Norma Janachovsky, Phyllis and Norbert Hengel.
