Donna M. Ahlness

HANSKA–Donna M. Ahlness, age 90 of Hanska died Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Ridgeway on 23rd in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska. Pastor Heather Hammond will officiate, and burial will follow in the Linden Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hanska. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at church on Friday. Donna is survived by her daughter, Judy (Steve) Anderson of Searles; grandchildren, Darren (Nicole) Anderson of New Ulm, Michelle (Keith) VanDenTop of Blaine, Mark (Gina) Ahlness of Ramsey, John (Haley) Ahlness of Plymouth, Jenna Ahlness of Plymouth, Jackson (Jill Beranek) Ahlness of New Ulm; brother, Jerry (Carol) Pierson of New Ulm; her sister, Shirley Brudelie of Hanska and brother-in-law, Duane (Janice) Ahlness of Mankato.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; her sons, Steve and Warren Ahlness; her in-laws, Oscar and Agnes Ahlness; her sister, Ardis (Bob) Mikkelson; brother, Robert (Virginia) Pierson, and brother-in-law, Warren Brudelie.

Donna Marie Pierson was born October 1, 1933 in St. James to Elmer and Clara (Haukvik) Pierson. She was a 1951 graduate from Hanska High School. On April 16, 1951, Donna was united in marriage to Jerry Ahlness in New Ulm. This marriage was blessed with a daughter and two sons whom together the couple raised on their century farm in rural Hanska. Donna worked with her husband as a dedicated farm wife for her entire career. Besides her work on the farm, Donna had a variety of other activities that brought her great joy. She dearly enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. She had the privelage of celebrating 25 years of family fishing trips to Lake Winnibigoshish where many wonderful memories were made. Donna also enjoyed quilting, making Baby and Graduation quilts for all six of her grandchildren.

Donna was an active parishioner of the Linden/Zion Lutheran Church. Donna was also on the Hanska Bowling League. Besides all the work on the farm, her dedication to the church, what Donna took the greatest joy in was spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
