NEW ULM–Leo Zeig, 82, of New Ulm died Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Waters Edge in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m.Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH Chapel in New Ulm with Father Jerry Meidl officiating. Inurnment will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery with military honors being provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Leo is survived by his wife Linda of New Ulm; daughters, Julie (Brian) Gulseth of Two Harbors, Jennifer (Steven) DeMorett of Red Wing, Amanda (Chris) Sizer of New Ulm; sons, Scott (Linda) Zeig of New Ulm, Paul (Michelle) Zeig of Red Wing, Tony (Chris) Zeig of Plymouth, James (Zen) Zeig of New Ulm, Brian (Deb) Miller of Sleepy Eye, Jeffrey (Jessica) Miller of St. Cloud, Jason (Casie) Miller of New Ulm; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and his brother Larry (Marlys) Zeig of New Ulm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Dorothy Haala; and his brother Bobby Zeig.

Leo Henry Zeig was born December 6, 1941 in New Ulm to Joseph and Leona (Seifert) Zeig; He attended Clear Lake School in Sigel Township and was a 1959 graduate of Cathedral High School. After high school Leo served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was employed at Dittrich of Minnesota Trucking as Vice President and later he owned and operated ZTS Trailer Sales. Leo was a trucker his whole life and also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, watching old westerns, giving his grandkids tractor rides and being in his shop. Leo and Linda went on numerous motorcycle trips including all 50 states and also taught his grandchildren how to make a brandy “The right way”.

He was a member of the Flying Dutchmen Motorcycle Club, American Legion Post #132 and the Schell’s Hobo Band.
